Image of Sallie Swift

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Sallie moved to Utah, USA in 1974 as an exchange student in her sophomore year. It was here that she met her art teacher, "Roger Cushing". Sallie was quickly placed into the Senior Year Art Class where she could foster and grow her talent. At the completion of her student year she won an Art Scholarship to the University of Utah, but returned to Australia in 1975.

Upon her return to Australia she obtained her degree in Graphic Design and commenced working. In 1976 she was one of 21 students to be offered a place with the Melbourne School of Fine Art but declined the offer to continue her carrier as a Graphic Designer.

With a passion for realism and oils she began exhibiting her paintings with success in 1984, with numerous successes in some of Australia’s most renowned Art Exhibitions.

She exhibited in Art Galleries throughout Melbourne, Victoria and acquired commissions for her paintings Australia wide and Internationally. The Equestrian Federation of Australia commissioned the artist to do an oil painting for Emirates Airlines who sponsored the Elite “Dressage With The Stars “ competition.

The artist moved to Long Beach in 2008 and with a keen awareness of her environment, her great love of nature, wildlife and music, she expresses herself on canvas with an interesting approach using acrylic and clever use of other mixed mediums giving a fresh approach to her contemporary abstract art that highlights and reflects our everchanging environment, nature and wildlife.
